Mr. Sullivan: I believe the school day needs to be one hour longer. I believe this for several reasons.
The first reason I believe this is because students will get out of school later in the day when their parents get home from work. Right now, many kids get home before their parents and they are left unsupervised. This is not a good situation. Because many kids are left unsupervised they are likely to cause trouble and not do their homework.
The second reason I believe that the school day needs to be one hour longer is so that teachers can get paid more. Teachers are constantly struggling to put food on the table because their salaries are so low. If we work longer hours we will be paid more and will be able to afford to feed our families.
The third reason I believe it is time to lengthen the school day is because test scores show that the students of America are falling behind the students of other countries in math and science. Many of the math and science jobs here in America are going to people from other countries and that is just messed up.
With all of this said, it is clear that we need to lengthen the school day.
i disagree with the kids unsupervised because some kids are responsible for they actions and are respectful enough to stay home by they self
